Specialty Services
Along with physical
therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology, Carle
Therapy Services offers a wide range of specialty-specific services.
These services are outlined below.
Aquatic Therapy
When land-based
therapy is too painful, you can find relief in the water. Water helps
decrease pain, loosen muscles and reduce swelling. Your therapy might
begin on an underwater treadmill and progress to aquatic jogging and
strength therapy. Aquatic therapy may be seen as a stepping-stone or as
a complement to land-based therapy.
Hand
Rehabilitation
It might be one of the
smaller body parts, but when your hand hurts, it can cause a major
disruption in your daily life. Our hand therapy services can treat
carpal-tunnel syndrome, repetitive-stress injuries or trauma and can
provide post-surgery rehabilitation. After an extensive evaluation, we
may advise heat treatments, strength and flexibility exercises or
customized splints.
Balance Therapy
We can get you back on
your feet after trauma or other injuries throw your life off balance.
After an extensive evaluation, you will begin an individualized exercise
program to sharpen physical control, sensory-motor skills and inner-ear
function. We can also help senior adults learn how to prevent falls.
Foot
Therapy
At Carle Therapy
Services, foot therapy complements the services of your referring
physician by focusing on the biomechanics of the feet and lower legs.
By examining joint and soft tissue movement, we can identify and address
problems such as leg-length discrepancies, movement problems and pain.
We provide individualized treatments and can also create orthotics
designed just for you in our on-site lab.
Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema doesn’t
have to slow you down. Carle Therapy Services can help reduce the
swelling associated with the disease so that patients can lead normal
and active lives. We use Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), which
combines drainage techniques, bandaging, exercise, instruction and
skin-care education. Our therapy treatments also help to promote the
healing of wounds.
Neuro
Rehabilitation
Our neuro
rehabilitation offers hope to patients who have lost mobility from
stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, multiple traumas or a debilitating
disease. The Carle Therapy Services team works with patients and family
members to develop individualized plans that foster each patient’s
independence within the home, community, school setting and workplace.
Spine
Therapy
You don’t have to live
with an aching back. Our knowledgeable team is educated in a variety of
therapies that will help you reduce pain by increasing your range of
motion, strength and endurance, while promoting good posture. Spine
Therapy combines physical therapy and education designed to promote
total spine health.
Urinary Continence Training
Numerous medical
conditions can affect your continence. It is a difficult condition to
live with, but there are therapies that can help. Our treatment might
include exercise for the pelvic floor muscles, diet and lifestyle
changes, quieting techniques or electrical stimulation, which retrains
muscles to work properly.
Seating and Wheeled Mobility Clinic
Mobility is
important. That’s why we have a clinic dedicated to evaluating and
fitting patients with custom manual and power wheelchairs, scooters and
seating systems. All appointments require a prescription from a primary
care physician. Prescriptions for scooter evaluations must come from a
specialist such as an orthopedic surgeon, a physiatrist, a
rheumatologist or neurologist.
Community Reentry/Vocational Rehabilitation
When you have been
sidelined be sever illness or injury, the community reentry program team
can help you adjust to daily living. We work with our patients in
everyday environment such as home, work, stores and school, in addition
to hospital and clinic settings. Our comprehensive program includes
memory and thinking aids, community-based skills (shopping, banking,
etc.), job placement, follow-up services and creating strategies to deal
with reduced functionality.
Driver
Assessment/Rehabilitation
We want to help you
stay safe on the road. Our driver assessment and rehabilitation program
at Carle Therapy Services is designed to help doctors make
recommendations to patients about their ability to drive. We develop a
plan to bring your cognitive and physical skills to acceptable levels
for safe driving and offer ongoing training to enable independent
driving.
Occupational Rehabilitation
Occupational
rehabilitation can help you return to work. We will assess your needs
and then develop a plan to help you work with greater independence and
safety. Carle Therapy Services also provides on-site training and
ergonomic assessments for companies who want to foster wellness among
their employees.
Pediatric/Development Therapy
We believe that
children with developmental disorders can have a bright future. We help
our young patients reach their potential using a combination of
physical, occupational, speech and developmental specialists for an
emphasis on overall health. An RN coordinator helps with the scheduling
and communication between the parents and therapists.
